Popticals Sunglasses at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market Show

The Popticals team was back in Salt Lake City for one of our favorite events of the year: the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market! The seasonal trade show (simply referred to as the OR Show) is a gathering of the outdoor industry’s best companies, innovators, gear makers, media and, of course, retailers. We packed up the Popticals Jeep and headed out for the Salt Palace Convention Center.

The All Mountain Demo

OR ShowAll Mountain DemoBefore the hustle and bustle of the trade show begans, the show’s attendees drove through the winding mountain roads to Solitude for some fresh air and fresh gear at the All Mountain Demo. We put on our warmest coats and boots and embarked into one of Utah’s most beautiful ski resorts, filled with the latest skis, snowshoes, warm winter apparel and more. The All Mountain Demo area was a playground of winter gear with the stunning slopes of Solitude in the background, situated around a giant campfire and lively music. We walked around a bit before finding our #HikerChat buddies, Tubbs Snowshoes. They handed us some delicious locally-brewed beers and showed us their latest and greatest snowshoes.

After the display cases were filled, the video wall was playing and the Popticals Jeep was cleaned up, we welcomed the retailers and reviewers to see the world’s first pop-out sunglasses. Outside enthusiasts, athletes, industry professionals and gear makers alike all had nearly the same initial reaction to seeing Popticals for the first time: “Wow.” Many people on the show floor stopped to check out our mean green Jeep, but stuck around once they realized the innovation that Popticals was bringing to the world of sports sunglasses.

Over the course of the next four days, we got to meet face to face with many of our online friends for the first time. The Poptcials booth had visits from Landon Faulkner, Teton Sports, Tiffiny Costello, TrekAlong, 50 Campfires, Exploring Elements, Yonder and more. We made lots of new friends along the way, and were even featured in Backcountry Post’s Gear Highlight Video (watch it below)!
